Joining the NHLS

Membership of the NHLS Membership is open to anyone with an interest in hedgerows. Help us conserve our countryside heritage using the traditional craft of hedgelaying.

There are several types of annual subscription available all of which have the following benefits:

• Newsletter published three times per year
• Free entry to the NHLS National Championship
• Access to a wealth of information and advice on hedgerows
• Links with local groups and national conservation organisations
• Opportunities for training and education events across the UK
• Access to a network of like minded people

Subscription Types

Student (under 21)

Student members have free membership of the Society.

Individual Membership

Standard membership of the society is £25 per annum.

Contractor Membership

Contractor membership costs £125 per annum.

This includes an entry on the Find a Hedgelayer page on the NHLS web site.

Affiliated Group

Affiliate membership is intended to help other hedgelaying organisations run events so please feel free to contact any of the Trustees to discuss individual requirements.

Affiliate membership costs £75 per annum and has the following additional benefits:

• Entitlement to nominate one person to represent the group at Society meetings
• Use of the Society's insurance cover for hedgelaying events (if required)
• Receipt of a number of copies of the Society newsletter. (Number to be agreed in each case.)

• Entitlement to use the Society's “Affiliated Member” badge (right) on printed material and online.
• Use of the NHLS web site to publicise training courses and other events in the “Diary” section
