NHLS Financial Awards for Young Hedgelayers

To encourage younger people to take up the skills of Hedgelaying we are pleased to announce the NHLS Award scheme for the 2020/2021 Hedgelaying Season.

This year we are offering awards of £25 to anyone under the age of 26 taking part in a hedgelaying training course.

Terms & Conditions:

  1. To qualify individuals must be under the age of 26 at the time of the course being held.
  2. The maximum of claims which can be made for any one individual in the period 1st September 2020 to 31st March 2021 is five.
  3. The sponsoring organisation must claim the award and the NHLS will pay the award direct to the individuals.
  4. Claims must be signed by the Secretary or another senior officer of the sponsoring organisation.
  5. Sponsoring organisations are any voluntary group, charity or commercial enterprise which can demonstrate that they have run similar courses in the two preceding years.
  6. Claims may be submitted for courses which take place between the dates in condition 2 above. Claims will not be accepted for courses which take place outside of these dates.
  7. Claims must be submitted within 28 days of the course taking place, and must include the following contact details of the person being sponsored:
    Name, Address, Date of Birth, Telephone Number and e-mail (where possible). NOTE: Any claim for a person under 16 years of age will require the signature of a parent or guardian.
  8. The Trustees of the National Hedgelaying Society reserve the right to refuse an application if in their opinion it does not fulfil the criteria. If you wish to check if your event would be acceptable please contact the NHLS Secretary for advice.

The sponsoring organisation should send the completed “Organiser's Form” to the NHLS Treasurer accompanied by completed copies of the “Claim Form” for each individual claiming an award. If that is not possible then the claimants should download and complete the form after the event and forward it separately to the NHLS treasurer.

Once approved, payment will be made direct to the individuals.

The editor of the National Hedgelaying Society Newsletter would be pleased to receive any articles or photographs about your event, which may then be used in the NHLS Newsletter. Items for the editor should be sent to the Newsletter Editor.

Data Protection: We keep award winners details for contact purposes only; we never supply them to any third parties unless we are legally obliged to do so. Contact details then remain on our files until the end of the financial year after which they are removed except where they are a necessary part of our financial records.
