Training and conservation
Membership helps fund training, education, competitions and the conservation of living hedges for future generations.
There are several types of annual subscription, each providing a range of benefits:
- Protect Britain’s hedgerows by supporting the Society’s work.
- Members’ newsletter published three times a year.
- National and local events throughout the year.
- Free entry to the National Hedgelaying Competition (worth £10).
- Priority access to NHLS funded grants, apprenticeships and funding opportunities.
- A network of like-minded people who share your interest.
- Access to resources, including historical results, library of newsletters and photos.
- The opportunity to shape the Society by volunteering or standing for election to the Committee.
Individual Membership
Standard membership – £25 per year
Standard annual membership for anyone interested in hedgelaying and hedgerow conservation.
Contractor Membership
Standard NHLS membership – £125 per year
Includes an entry on the Find a Hedgelayer page.
The Affiliate membership programme
This membership has been designed to support your hedgelaying organisation in running events.
Affiliate membership provides the following additional benefits:
- Entitlement to nominate one person to represent the group at Society meetings.
- Use of the Society’s insurance cover for hedgelaying events.
- Multiple copies of the Society Newsletter.
- Entitlement to use the Society’s “Affiliated Member” badge (right) on printed material and online.
- Access to grants and support from the society.
